Part A – Breakdown Services

Covered:
If the vehicle breaks down within the UK we will:

  1. Send help to repair the vehicle. This could be a permanent or temporary repair. If we need parts to be able to do this, we will provide service under “Pre-authorisation for cost of parts” on page 6; or
  2. If we are unable to repair the vehicle at the roadside, we will:

     a) recover the vehicle and passengers to:

  1. an approved garage; or
  2. another local garage; or
  3. a destination of your choice within the UK.

For long distances, we may need to transfer your vehicle to different recovery vehicles.

If we recover the vehicle to a garage, we will reimburse you for taxi costs for passengers to continue their journey to a single destination within 20 miles;

     b)provide you with a report, by email, which details what we think is wrong with your vehicle and what needs to be repaired or replaced;

     c) call up to 3 approved garages to find out which one can assess your vehicle the soonest

     d) obtain a repair estimate from your chosen garage, based on our findings at the roadside and explain that estimate to you. If a repair estimate is not possible because specialist garage equipment is needed to find the fault, we will let you know, and instead provide you with an estimate for the diagnosis.

Please note: If we are unable to take your vehicle to a garage during their opening hours, we will provide a recovery to a single destination of your choice and provide the garage support services as above the next working day. We are only able to provide one recovery however, so for example, if you choose for your vehicle to be taken home, you will not be covered for a second recovery to a garage the next day.

Not covered:

   1. The cost of any parts over the amount pre- authorised

   2. The cost of specialist resource;
   3. The fitting of parts, including batteries, supplied

by anyone other than us;
   4. Any breakdown resulting from a fault that we have

previously attended and:

     a) The original fault has not been properly repaired; or

     b)  you have not followed our advice after a temporary repair;

   5. If the breakdown is caused by a tyre fault, and the vehicle is not carrying a serviceable spare tyre, the tyre repair equipment provided by the vehicle’s manufacturer or a locking wheel nut key, we will only recover the vehicle and passengers to a destination within 10 miles of the breakdown;

   6. Recovery for caravans or trailers if your caravan or trailer breaks down; and

   7. Where you have requested that we do not fit parts to repair the vehicle at the roadside, under “Pre- authorisation for cost of parts”, we will only recover the vehicle and passengers to a destination within 10 miles of the breakdown.

Part B – Travel and mobility

Covered:
If we attend a breakdown under Part A and are unable to fix your vehicle on the same day, we will help you by making arrangements to keep you mobile while your vehicle is in for repair.

     a. Up to a maximum of £60 per day, up to a maximum of 48 hours hire, or until your vehicle is fixed, if sooner.

   3. Where we arrange van hire, we will pay the insurance and collision damage waiver (this covers the cost of damage but you would still need to pay the excess).
